And, although it was officially founded in 1968, Vahan has a long and storied history going way back to the late 1800’s, and half the world away, to the City of Lights - Paris, France. That’s when and a man named Manasse Der Calousdian founded a jewelry company that focused on providing luxury jewelry pieces of the highest quality for people of means.

Arsene eventually had his son, Sacha Der Calousdian, and Sacha was fascinated with the world of jewelry manufacturing, and proud of the company that his father and grandfather had built.

With a brilliant mind, a burning curiosity, and a desire to excel, Sacha Der Calousdian was born to be a jewelry designer, and he studied the field at La Chambre Syndicale de la Bijouterie, one of the finest jewelry design schools in all of Europe. He then spent some twenty years perfecting his craft, and in 1968 he founded the Alwand Vahan Jewelry company (now known simply as Vahan). With Sacha’s natural talent, first-class education, and years of experience, the new company was an immediate success. In addition to being worn by some of the most famous and admired women in the world, Vahan’s jewelry has been sold at some of America’s most exclusive retailers, such as Bloomingdale’s and Neiman Marcus.
